In Lesson 10, teams are asked to reflect back on how their Lead4Change project went and to celebrate the completion of the program and working together as a team. We hope it has been a rewarding journey for you and your team.
Now that your team has completed your Challenge project, what’s next? We suggest creating a memento that each team member can look back on to see their transformation into becoming a leader. Here are a few ideas on what you can do to record your team’s service leadership experience:
Create an Interactive Timeline:
This option allows you to replicate your team’s lifeline in a digital, interactive format. There are many free online tools that will let you upload photos, videos, include social media, links and add text to create an online timeline. Create your timeline online and then send out the link to your team members and anyone who played a role in your team’s success.
Create a Memory Board or a Shadow Box:
Memory boards can be made and individualized for each team member or one memory board can be made for the entire team. They can include a poster, a corkboard, or any type of board that things can be attached to. We suggest adding photos, drawings, word art, quotes that represent your team, and any other small mementos that can be attached permanently. A shadow box is another clever way to record your team’s story. This option works well if your team has something symbolic to show off. It could be a t-shirt, or a can that represents food donations.
Create a Video Testimonial:
Take a look at your team lifeline and create a list of questions that dive deeper into each milestone on the lifeline. Use these questions to interview each team member. Ask follow-up questions when necessary. Be sure to video record the interviews and then use the footage to create a short documentary of your team’s story. Also, if possible, interview your non-profit/charity organization and any other people who helped your team along the way. Once you have your final cut, post it online and/or send it out to everyone as a special “thank you” gift.
Create a Photo Book:
Did your team take a lot of photos for their project? If so, a photo book is a perfect way to record your team’s story. Photos books can also include team quotes, logos, and short stories. It’s as easy as scanning in your images, or adding them through an online service like Blurb. Most online services will help you lay out the book and will print and ship it to you for an affordable price.
Create a Memory Binder:
This is a great option to keep track of any written documentation, paperwork, notes, cards and anything that’s printed on paper. The other benefit is that it’s always able to be updated and added to because it’s a binder.
We look forward to seeing what you and your team come up with. Please share with us on our Facebook page or in the comments section below.
