Lead4Change representatives recently attended the American Middle-Level Educators (AMLE) Conference. It is evident that these educators are looking for the best resources for student success. More than 100 chose to register for Lead4Change on the spot!
In our conversations, we were able to connect many of the lessons to the needs of middle-level educators. Working with the Now Go Lead 12-lesson track, we shared some of the connections. Learning to value their peers and collaborate on teams — Lesson 2 — helps pre-teens gain confidence and strengthen their communication skills. Having Voice and Choice in the service projects they do — Lesson 3 & 4 — helps students feel engaged and committed through the project.
Empowering students in the middle grades to practice writing and presenting persuasive speeches — Lesson 6 — and Elevator Speeches — Lesson 7 — improves literacy and public speaking.
As the project draws to a close, both teachers and student find value in the reflection, evaluation and recognition activities – Lesson 11. And, when we shared stories and videos from Lead4Change Challenge entries, the middle-level educators at AMLE became eager to involve their schools and their students, confident that they were ready to be service-minded leaders!
We were inspired by the educators. We are grateful for their commitment to providing an excellent educational experience for their students. And we can’t wait to recognize and celebrate the stories from their student teams.
