Physical distancing … hybrid learning … virtual learning … absence of group gatherings.
Navigating the reality of your current teaching environment means drawing on every coping skill you’ve ever used – and maybe some new strategies for coping.
Coping – to face and deal with responsibilities, problems, or difficulties, especially successfully or in a calm or adequate manner.
As students come to the learning environment, respecting all the rules of this time, there is great power in finding ways to bring them together as a team as a way of coping.
Here are a few Lead4Change lesson activities that can be assigned out to your class, chapter, or by group to bring students together, even if they are not physically in the same place. All of these activities are part of the Lead4Change Student Leadership lessons. But they can also be useful as your students cope with today’s version of “school”.
Build Trust and Get to Know your Teammates – Lesson 2
Have some fun by Creating a Team Name, Slogan and Mascot – 12-track, Lesson 5; 6-track, Lesson 3
Let students speak out about an issue in their school and their idea for resolution by Creating an Elevator Speech – 12 Track, Lesson 8; 6-Track, Lesson 4
Take action on current barriers to successful learning by Building the Overcoming Barriers Chart – 12-Track, Lesson 10, 6-Track, Lesson 5
Coming together for a great year can be exactly what your students need. Once they’ve tried some of the lesson exercises, give them a purpose by sharing the whole Lead4Change program. We can’t wait to see what they will do!!
