Lead4Change Student Leadership Program

Welcome

Congratulations on beginning the Lead4Change Student Leadership program! Through the lessons in this program, your students will realize that their life truly matters and that they can make a difference in their community. This program helps unlock the unique gifts of each student to create real, lasting change through a service learning project.

We’re excited for you to get going!

Program Overview

The Lead4Change lessons are rooted in a service-learning framework and encourage students to put the skills they learn into practice. Through each lesson, your students will learn practical leadership skills like:

  • Communication
  • Self awareness
  • Collaboration
  • Problem-solving
  • Goal Setting
  • Execution
  • Crafting a proposal that gets buy-in for their idea

Students create a team – a team is a minimum of three students. As they learn these leadership skills and put them into practice as a team, they’ll learn to have agency over their lives and compassion for others – making your classroom a more supportive environment for everyone. At least three students must be on the team in order to complete the project.

The program culminates with submitting their project as their Lead4Change Project for a chance to receive funding to support their idea. Similar to SharkTank, this competition showcases the growth of students as leaders and offers students a chance to win real dollars for their school or community. The lessons in the Lead4Change curriculum help students create a service project that addresses a school or community need and encourages students to develop a solution to support that need. When student teams complete their project and pitch the judging panel with the proposal they create, they could be chosen to receive additional funding for their project idea.

Through this program, your students will learn how to:

  • Develop self awareness
  • Work with a team
  • Identity problems that need to be solved
  • Set measurable and specific goals
  • Create an action plan to achieve the goal
  • Execute the action plan
  • Create a proposal for their project that could win real money for the school or nonprofit

The program empowers students – but it also offers educators:

  • A sense of higher purpose in their classrooms
  • Sense of pride and accomplishment watching their students develop and come together to solve a critical need in their community
  • Simple ways to enhance the way you lead your students
  • A path to making your work as an educator more fulfilling

At Lead4Change, we believe every student  has it in them to be a great leader who gets big things done. The tools in this program help unlock the unique gifts of each student to create real, lasting change in their communities. Program Design

  • The Lead4Change Student Leadership Program consists of 9 core modules. Within each module, there will be a lesson(s), a video(s), activities for students and a wrap up. Each lesson includes “Lesson Instructions” that tell the educator exactly what to say, do and show. You’ll follow the Lesson Instructions and facilitate the activity(ies) for each lesson with the accompanying Student Workbook.

  • Lessons must be accessed online through your Lead4Change dashboard.

  • The program is designed to work within a schedule that works for you, whether it’s over the course of one month or spaced out over several months. The program ends with your student teams submitting a proposal with their Project and our Lead4Change panel will award the winning student teams with grant money they can use towards their cause. The Lead4Change Project deadlines occur in early February and in mid April.
