We’d like to take a moment to look back on how Lead4Change teams and their charitable donations have helped their communities in 2013. Here’s how Beth Braniff Harp, Director of Development at Houston’s Kid’s Meals, describes how the Wolves Against Hunger Lead4Change Team and their $25,000 charitable donation helped them.
Good afternoon! Kids’ Meals is so thankful for your generous donation! Thanks to the donation we were able to provide more than 14,285 meals at an organization cost of only $1.75 per child to hungry preschool children living in extreme poverty conditions.
We delivered these meals directly to the doors of children in need. For some of these young children, this is their only daily sustenance, and they depend on a friendly face from Kids’ Meals to show up in our vans to deliver a healthy lunch. Your donation allowed us to sustain and grow our meal delivery each Monday through Friday all year long, helping to close the gap between families’ income and the needs of their growing kids.
Thanks to the Yum! Brands Foundation gift through the Lead4Change Program, we were able to increase our meal delivery from 1,700 meals each weekday to more than 2,000 each weekday! We are able to serve all of the siblings in the homes on holidays and during the summer – up to 2,300 daily! This puts us on track to serve more than a record 500,000 meals in 2013.
Thanks to your support, Kids’ Meals has their first ever organized pantry! This is so important because weekends are too long when a child is hungry. Now we are able to provide the families a grocery bag each Friday to sustain them over the weekends. Again, we cannot express our thanks to you enough! We are so thankful that Yum Foods joined us in our mission to end hunger among preschool children in the greater Houston area!
