In this post, we take another look back on how Lead4Change teams and their charitable donations have helped their communities in 2013. Here’s how Bob Carey, Executive Director of Sarah’s Kitchen in Port St. Lucie, Florida, describes how the Race to End Hunger Lead4Change team and their $10,000 charitable donation helped them in their efforts to feed those in need.
The Yum! Brands Foundation grant enabled Sarah’s Kitchen:
- Opened our fifth feeding site serving 250 meals a week on Tuesdays.
- The information and PR from the USA Today “can car” contest helped generate more guests during the summer months.
- Last year we averaged 450 children a month. This year we are now serving over 800 children each month.
- Last year we served 42,000 hot nutritious meals this year we will surpass 50,000 and probably come close to 60,000.
- Your grant has help us buy the food and supplies we need to feed these increasing numbers.
