The mindset of any leader should be that of: “We can make it happen!” When showing the introductory video which accompanies Lesson 5, the energy of David Novak reflects how a leader’s energy has the power to lift everyone up and make BIG things happen!
Miami-Dade teacher, Nancy Madrigal, continues this energy and mindset with her students through the People Map Activity. While you watch Ms. Madrigal’s video:
- Be inspired to get students’ to think outside their own mindset,
- Realize students can rely on each other’s strengths and of those in the community,
- Positive energy becomes an idea generator to achieve their goals.
Believing your project can be done, deciding who can help you, and reflect on aha! moments are the activities which compose lesson 5. When students realize they do need people to achieve goals and that everyone surrounding them has different strengths, their energy soars and the volume in the room gets louder. Teachers love that type of noise!
Believe in oneself.
Believe in the team.
Believe all will get accomplished.
The mindset of the leader can be contagious and that is the time we see many students blossom.
Now, is a perfect time to show (or reshow) the Lesson 5 introduction video to every student, every class, and anyone who is working in a group for any subject or topic. Perhaps students are completing a math project, or completing literature circles; the video is a good reminder of positive teamwork and mindset.
This time of year can be magical. Discover the leader in everyone.
Lesson 5 is found in Lesson 3 in the 6-track plan.
