During this time of uncertainty and unexpected changes to our school focus, we want to share some ways that Lead4Change can be a supportive, engaging tool for educators and students.
Remember – we offer a program that is free, ready to use, and can be fully completed as a student led program.
If your school or district is implementing new teaching methods – and preparing for distance or digital learning – we want to make things easier for you and productive for your students.
- Keep students engaged and interested through online learning. Lead4Change lessons are available in digital format – either editable PDFs or Google Docs. Share the student lesson plans with groups of students. Have them work together in small groups to complete the lessons and turn them in for review.
The lesson plans are ready to go and easy for students to complete outside of the classroom. The bonus? You can show real skill development and learning tied to specific skills they need to develop this year.
- Rethink your Lead4Change project focus to respect social distancing. Many teams are working on community service that involves gathering and/or working with others, often groups most susceptible to health issues. These are important initiatives, and populations who should not be ignored.
Assign the Overcoming Barriers Activity (12-track, Lesson 10 or 6-track, Lesson 5) to students to complete online. Have them explore and discuss ways to overcome the barrier of social distancing while still accomplishing their project’s goals.
- Stay on track to achieve your core subject goals. Lead4Change offers a variety of Alignment and Integration Guides to ensure that you achieve the core goals of your class. Find the resource you need here.
Students, working online, can stay on track in any subject area — English, Math, Social Studies, Science, STEM, Arts, FCS, CTE – through the Lead4Change lessons. The guides demonstrate the connection, lesson by lesson.
You can also find out how to stay aligned to your goals in any setting – IB MYP or DP, Character Education, SEL PBL, Gifted Education and more — by utilizing the alignment guide for your setting.
- Complete your Challenge Entry. For those who have finished the Lead4Change lessons and project, this is a great time to complete your submission.
Students and/or educators can utilize this break from school to finish up the entry. After we all get through these difficult days, wouldn’t it be wonderful to showcase the work of your students and bring resources back to your school or community in a winning grant? What a great way to end this year on a positive note!
This is a perfect time to develop students into leaders. They want to have a voice and a role in overcoming this crisis. Empower them to use their time now to make real change happen. They will have to be innovative and collaborative in bold new ways.
Our world needs these young leaders to step up. Equip them and watch the results!
